Scope of the Meeting
The International User Workshop 2009 is intended for researchers in the field of organic semiconducting emissive as well as thin film photovoltaic devices. It is open to both novice and advanced users of FLUXiM software and lasts two full days: the first, Tuesday June 30, will be mostly dedicated to OLED technologies, the second, Wednesday July 1, will pertain to solar cells.
The talks, organized as short lectures, are mainly held by the developers of the simulation software setfos so that the participants can profit most from the scientific and numerical experience of the tutors. Along with the workshop, the meeting offers a unique chance to share information and know-how within the scientific community thank to the external speakers invited on purpose.
Contents of the Workshop
Participants are going to be introduced to both established and new features of setfos 3.0 and can take advantage of this opportunity to meet other academic and industrial scientists at this event.
This workshop introduces computational engineering methods and tools that are ideally suited for the characterization and optimization of semiconducting emissive thin film structure such as organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) and thin film solar cells.
In the first part of the workshop, an overview on the physical models governing electronic and optical device operation is given.
The workshop Day 1 will be mostly dedicated to OLEDs. Advanced analysis features for parameter variation, optimization and fitting are introduced and the participants can gain hands-on experience with the introduced simulation software and learn how to approach practical engineering problems directly from top researchers in the field. Several examples of comparisons with experimental data will be discussed in detail while selected users of the software will present their experiences in implementing setfos in their own research.
In workshop Day 2, the solar cell related features of setfos will be presented. Particular attention will be given to cells with arbitrary configuration of coherent and incoherent absorbing layers. Again, advanced analysis tools for the optimization of the solar cell operation will be presented and the participants can learn how to profit most from setfos through hands-on excercices.
